I assume in advance – and warn you, the dear reader of these words – that I will not deal with the same issues that are so often written about on such occasions. Therefore, I will skip the courteous praise of the artist and his work. There won’t be any of the suspicious compliments, nor pseudo-philosophical and wise nonsense that drive the reader to have complexes. You won’t find any of that here.
Prof. Stanisław Tabisz, Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, an excerpt from the introduction to the catalogue „Impressions of Mikołów”, 2015
The class of Stanisław Mazuś’ painting does not need to be introduced. He is an artist with a great many achievements, admired for his artistry, tenderness and precision of detail, sensitivity to the wonderful play of light, valued for his bright eye and unusual passion for painting from nature, which as we all know is disappearing in today's world of artists-creators addled by the media, especially by digital photography. Each of his exhibitions, with still life motifs, portraits and landscapes, is for me an intimate feast and an opportunity to commune with paintings and personality that is faithful to what is natural and beautiful, to what is a result of profound observation of reality, of studying the environment around us, to experience intensely what the extraordinary painter’s eye sees in the constantly changing world.
